Craniosacral therapy

In addition to my chiropractic training I also studied craniosacral therapy with the Up ledger Institute and advanced techniques for pregnancy and paediatrics with Dr Carol Phillips at the AECC in the UK. In fact a great many people associate the therapy with the treatment of babies for colic and irritable baby syndrome often connected to birth trauma eg forceps, suction birth, caesarean where the cranial moulding does not take place.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands on treatment that focuses on alleviating restrictions to the physiological motion of all the bones of the skull, including the face and mouth, as well as the vertebral column, sacrum, coccyx and pelvis.
The therapist also focuses on normalizing abnormal tissue tensions and stresses in the meningeal membrane with special attention to the outermost membrane the dura mater and its facial connections, freeing up movement for the cerebrospinal fluid within its membrane compartment.

Where can tensions arise from ? Birth trauma is a very obvious cause but in fact each of us creates to a degree our own dysfunctional patterns eg possibly through posture, work position, emotional stresses

Treatment sessions usually last at least 45 mins and rely on the therapists ability to facilitate the patients own self-corrective processes within the craniosacral system.
The most powerful effects of craniosacral therapy are considered to be on the function of the central nervous system, the immune system, the endocrine system and the visceral organs via the autonomic nervous system.

There is now a wealth of clinical evidence and research in areas of cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, seizure disorders, depressive reactions, menstrual dysfunction, motor dysfunction, strabismus( visual disorder ) and temporomandibular joint problems. Various chronic pain and fatigue syndromes also respond well.

Craniosacral therapy can help many conditions for further info visit the Up ledger website or contact me with any questions you might have at martinaros°conecta4 .com or for appointments 648 856 119/951 047 390.
